The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office located a body along the Pajaro River levee, west of the bridge that connects the community of Pajaro to the City of Watsonville.
Yesterday, April 10, Sheriff’s Office detectives received information which led them to believe that there was a body that had been buried along the Pajaro River levee. They responded to the area around 3pm and began their search. Five hours later, they eventually found a body buried in the area described.
The identity of the person has not yet been confirmed. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Coroner division will perform a post-mortem forensic examination to determine the identity.
“We don't know their identity, so we can't give somebody the false hope that it’s their loved one until we do our autopsy and try to identify this person, which will hopefully be sometime next week,” says Commander Andy Rosas.
This is an active investigation. Anyone with information that may be related to this incident is asked to contact Monterey County Sheriff’s Detective Arras Wilson at 597-1225 or Detective Sgt. Nicholas Kennedy at 755-3773 or 597-1228.
