Britannia Arms in downtown Monterey is for sale.
Priced at $995,000, the pub popular for karaoke and soccer watch parties is pitched as a “cherished gathering spot.” The realtor is reaching out to both current or aspiring restaurateurs.
The listing, by Carmel Business Sales, appeared just two weeks after the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control revoked the restaurant’s liquor license on charges of “operating a disorderly house which created a law enforcement problem.” According to a statement issued by ABC, the suspension of alcohol sales is indefinite, but was stayed for a term that would allow owner Paul Whitecross to transfer the license to a new owner.
Britannia Arms holds a Type 47 license, which allows for the sale of spirits, as well as beer and wine—known as a full liquor license. The real estate listing indicates that the license comes with the restaurant.
ABC issued the revocation on Nov. 21.
