June is Pride Month, and many local cities will be ready to wave the rainbow colors even before the festivities begin. Various ceremonies and flag-raising events are set to take place throughout Monterey County in the coming days.
The County of Monterey’s plans include a resolution to be adopted by the Board of Supervisors that “reflects the County of Monterey’s ongoing commitment to fostering a workplace and community where all individuals are treated with dignity, respect and fairness,” according to a statement. “The County recognizes the contributions, resilience, and diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other LGBTQ+ individuals.”
The events below include ceremonies and remarks by elected and community leaders. All are welcome to attend these free public events.
The only cities in the county that do not have the Pride flag scheduled to go up this June are Gonzales, King City and Sand City.
