Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood shown in 2016 in Carmel, when he donated the land to Big Sur Land Trust.

The rumors are that Carmel-based actor Clint Eastwood might be done with the big screen.

Some reviewers call his recent, and possibly last film, Juror #2, the most entertaining movie of the year.

It’s a legal slow burn drama/thriller about a journalist and recovering alcoholic who is called for jury duty on a case concerning the death of a woman, who, a year prior, had a fight with her boyfriend at a local bar, and was later found dead under a bridge. The boyfriend was charged with her murder. The movie hit the theaters Nov. 1. You can see the trailer here.

Eastwood, who is 94 and is an Academy Award winner, was pretty much done with acting, and this is likely the last film he will direct, at least at Warner Bros.

Eastwood’s most recent film, Cry Macho (2021), was not a relative box office success, and made over $16 million. American Sniper (2014) made nearly $550 million and was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Juror#2 is reportedly Eastwood’s 40th film as a director. Eastwood told entertainment media outlets when the film was announced last year that he directed Juror #2 because was interested in “the situation” the main character, the jury, is facing.
