Soledad man arrested in series of thefts from unlocked vehicles.

Soledad Police officers arrested a man on Monday, Aug. 10 for an outstanding felony warrant and for charges related to thefts to unlocked vehicles, authorities say. 

Luis Jonathan Damian Campos, 29, of Soledad was arrested on Monday, Aug. 10 for a recent series of thefts from unlocked vehicles, police say.

At 4pm on Monday, officers with the Soledad Police Department were investigating a possible domestic violence incident when they located property believed to be stolen by Campos. Prior to the arrival of the officers, Campos allegedly fled the area and was believed to be at a nearby residence.

With permission by the homeowner of the residence, the Soledad Police Department with assistance from the Greenfield Police Department, used drones which located Campos allegedly fleeing from the backyard and jumping a fence into a neighboring property.

Soledad Police officers eventually located Campos and safely took him into custody.

Campos is currently booked at the Monterey County Jail on his alleged outstanding felony no-bail warrant and additional charges related to the thefts from unlocked vehicles, according to the Soledad Police Department.

“This incident also serves as an important reminder to our community to always lock your vehicle and remove valuables before walking away,” said the Soledad Police Department in a statement. “Even a brief moment with a vehicle left unlocked can provide an opportunity for theft.”
