Papa’s Garage met on the Internet, but they’re serious.

For years, bands formed when like-minded musicians met at one of their idol’s shows. Or after a night of sharing similar musical goals over drinks at a seedy bar. Or bandmembers were just childhood friends that would rather play music than try out for the football team.

These days, bands are forming over the Internet. Case in point: East Bay’s Papa’s Garage.

A year and a half ago, guitarist Evan Goldstein put a call out on the Internet site Craig’s List searching for musicians who were interested in playing rock and blues numbers by bands like ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Less than two weeks later, Goldstein had himself a rock band.

Now, Papa’s Garage plays all over Central California—from the high altitudes of Lake Tahoe to the quaint coastal town of Capitola. Over the band’s brief career, Papa’s Garage has recorded two concert CDs: Live at the Fog Bank and Live at the Hard Rock.

Goldstein says if things go well here in Monterey there might be another CD titled Live at Ocean Thunder.
