Pacific Grove City Council to swear in new member, consider smoking ban.

What a Drag: If P.G.'s smoking ban is finalized Wednesday night, the Municipal Golf Links may be one of the only places where public puffing is still legal.

On Wednesday, Dec. 1, the Pacific Grove City Council is scheduled to swear in new Councilman Rudy Fischer and voter-approved incumbents Alan Cohen, Robert Huitt, Dan Miller, Ken Cuneo and Mayor Carmelita Garcia.

The council also plans to take a final look at a ban on smoking in public spaces. The ordinance - which would apply to city parks, playgrounds, recreational areas, waterfronts and areas in and around the weekly farmers market - got the council's green light at its first reading Nov. 17.

Smoking would still be allowed in Municipal Golf Links pathways, fairways, tees and greens.

The meeting's regular session begins at 6pm, City Hall Council Chambers, 300 Forest Ave., P.G.
