The Pacific Grove Museum Assocation has approved its own extinction.
The 43-year-old association's assets will be transferred to the Museum Foundation of Pacific Grove, the new private-public partnership in charge of running the historic Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History.
Last month, association members voted on whether to dissolve the organization. With ballots counted, 92 percent agreed to the consolidation. About 57 percent of association members voted.
The consolidation is expected to reduce administrative costs and boost resources for museum exhibits and programs, according to a report from Pacific Grove City Manager Tom Frutchey.
