Carmel politics drew national attention when on-screen gunslinger Clint Eastwood rode into the mayor's office in the 1980's. Now the Bush political dynasty is getting involved.
The former Florida governor, a Republican, has donated $100 to Moniz' campaign for mayor.
Moniz says that while he attended Georgetown Law School, he worked in the Washington DC office Bush maintained to foster communication between Florida and the federal government.
The Bush contribution proves he is politically connected, Moniz said in a statement that he released along with a copy of the former governor's check. Moniz also criticized what he called "reckless spending by my opponent" and vowed to be a "true fiscal conservative" if elected.
