Salinas Valley native Brenda Scettrini-Saglio has been practicing family medicine in Salinas for over two decades, drawing creative inspiration from her patients’ resilience. As an artist, she started with creating stained glass windows, engaged in printmaking, painting on canvas and eventually became a muralist. The above work comes from ArtWorks @Salinas, a shared gallery space created by the Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC), where the artist works on her paintings. As a muralist, Saglio is a member of Community Colors Murals, alongside Paul Richmond and Briden Schueren. She is also involved with Richmond’s Art Against Bullying initiative. ArtWorks @Salinas is located at 262 Main St., Salinas; regular hours are 10am-4pm Friday through Sunday, and 11am-2pm on Tuesdays.
