Salinas Police arrested four people suspected of human trafficking.
According to a press release from Salinas Police, on May 22, detectives got a tip from the FBI about a possible victim of human trafficking on Kern Street. Hours later, detectives identified and located the juvenile victim and the suspected traffickers, Cordarryl Steen, 37, and Sade Williams, 23, at a local hotel.
Steen and Williams were both arrested and taken to Monterey County Jail on human trafficking charges. The victim was taken into the custody of Monterey County Child Protective Services.
Later the same night, another juvenile victim of human trafficking called police after she fled from a hotel room she was being forced to work out of, according to the press release.
Officers surrounded the hotel room and arrested the suspects, Rory Johnson, 21, and Jessica Clamucha, 20, without incident.
Steen posted bail on May 28, and is due in court for arraignment on June 11, according to court records. Williams remains in custody and is scheduled to next appear in court on June 6. Johnson, meanwhile, remains in custody with his next court date scheduled for June 18. Clamucha is no longer in custody.
