Allen Radner

Dr. Allen Radner

Dr. Allen Radner is no longer the interim leader of Salinas Valley Health, a position he held for a little over six months. On Thursday night, June 6, the SVH Board of Directors voted to make him the permanent president/CEO of the nonprofit health system after a nationwide search.

"This decision was made after an extensive process," Victor Rey, the SVH Board president, said in a press release. "The board feels confident about the selection process and our final decision, determining Dr. Radner the most qualified leader to meet our ambitious goals moving forward."

On April 25, the publicly elected board was presented with three finalists for the job, selected after vetting by a search firm and the board's own search committee. The names of the finalists were not disclosed, but it was a safe guess that Radner was one of the three.

After former president/CEO Pete Delgado stepped down in October of last year after 10 years at the helm, Radner was hired to fill in as interim beginning on Dec. 1. Radner joined the medical staff of SVH in 1994. He served for 10 years on the executive team as the healthcare system's chief medical officer.

In 2019 Radner became CEO of Salinas Valley Health Medical Clinic, a network of primary and specialty care clinics. He worked through the pandemic as one of the top infectious disease experts in Monterey County.

"I am fortunate to have been a part of this community and this organization for many years," Radner said. "I understand the organization's rich history in Monterey County and our deep commitment to provide quality care to everyone in our community."

Radner is the seventh leader of SVH, which serves the region as a public district hospital, based in Salinas.
