On a recent trip to France, our French-speaking Secretary of State John Kerry mentioned to a pool of reporters that he had just finished “one of those wonderful French lunches that have never ceased drawing Americans to Paris for centuries.” Fifi’s is famed for its dinner and fantastically affordable wines, but it does “wonderful French lunches” seven days a week. White tablecloths, romantic lighting and decor suitable for diplomats start what generous pours of wine, fresh-baked baguettes, charcuterie and an inspired menu of French classics—steamed mussels, escargots de Bourgogne in garlic butter, and signature duck a l’orange—finish in a resoundingly delightful way.
