Say the words “epic legal single track trails” and avid mountain bikers smile ecstatically (and sometimes drool). Fort Ord National Monument, with its 86 miles of trails on 7,200 acres, rolls up and down with stunning views in all directions. There are easy-access points by bike or car from Marina, Seaside and Salinas. The heart starts pumping and the grin gets wider the moment you start climbing the steep hills and drop down onto rolling single track past military relics, wildflowers and vistas and trails that seemingly stretch for endless miles. Better wipe that drool off your face.
