Follow-up: What can schools do to help underprivileged kids find success?
Asked at Target in Marina
ASHLEY WALKER | Retail | Salinas
A: Respect. You don’t see it a lot anymore. When you use it every day, it sticks.
Avoid Trouble: A lot of after-school programs. It would help kids stay out of trouble.
SHERYL STEINER | Retired | Salinas
A: Self confidence. I remember when I was in school I wasn’t very confident.
Give Chances: Spending more individual time with the student. Showing the children that learning can be fun.
MICHAEL VASQUEZ | Retail | Marina
A: Life decisions. Religion shouldn’t have a place in school; it isn’t necessary.
Stop Cutting: More funding, workshops and sports. In this area we are cutting back on too many things, and it isn’t fair to the kids.
