LEFT WING DUDE
Hey, left wing dude. I read your blurb in the Weekly (“Local Spin – Finishing the Job,” Dec. 3-9) and it gave me the giggles. You, are a leftist that probably just fell over with delight when Barack Obama was elected. Wow! A fellow Leftie in Office! Along comes the President racheting up the combat. Hey! I didn’t vote for him to expand wars, but to cut them off. You were steaming at your hero, but as a leftist, you couldn’t dress him down in print like you wanted. As a hardcore antiwar guy, in backing Obama you are in effect backing war. Your favorite politician is running two wars. Man! When you were protesting Vietnam, it was a puny single war. Now you got two, but you just can’t raise hell with the protagonist of these wars, can you? A leftist is running the wars. Wow! Can you imagine? Hey, break down, tell him what you really think of this skinny dude who had president lessons in front of a mirror to learn how to act presidential. –Gary Black | Marina
HIGH TIMES
(“Elevating the Debate – When will medical marijuana get the high sign in Monterey County?” Dec. 17-23) - Posted Dec. 18
This is a good article, but it’s really ludicrous that we are still having this debate 37 years after Nixon’s Shafer Commission determined marijuana is non-addictive and FAR less harmful than alcohol. There was NEVER a good reason for marijuana prohibition. It was a monstrous fraud perpetrated by megalomanical bureaucrat, Harry Anslinger and friends in 1937.

End the madness! A choice to substitute near harmless marijuana for very harmful alcohol is good for the individual AND society. –John Thomas
MOSS LANDING WELCOME
(“Elevating the Debate – When will medical marijuana get the high sign in Monterey County?,” Dec. 17-23) - Posted Dec. 19
I am not a patient of medical cannabis but have become acquaintances of some people that are. A young mother of two in Salinas who became paralyzed from the waist down last year found cannabis a viable and holistic replacement for all EIGHT prescription pills prescribed by her doctor. I know an Iraq veteran in Prunedale with insomnia and paranoia both of which subsided in a couple of seconds with government regulated cannabis. I also know a 50-year-old crabber from the Moss Landing docks who was prescribed cannabis as a substitute for oxycontin prescribed after a botched leg surgery in which his nerves were damaged. With that being said, Moss Landing, the “Heart of the Monterey Bay,” would be the best Monterey County location for a Compassionate Care Club. Away from schools and any playgrounds, so our location wouldn’t be accessible for kids. Moss being a playground for adults, we have several local restaurants and coffee shops. It’s a very welcoming neighborhood that is open to the idea of medical cannabis. I have spoken with local business owners, marine biologists, students from CSU Moss Landing, and residents. So, Daniel Maniscalco, please take a drive down Moss Landing Road to see prime real estate in a small welcoming fishing town with four beautiful beaches, good food and an already developed market of cannabis users ranging from 18 to 70. God bless Monterey County!! –The Mexican 831
MALDONADO – OR NOT?
(“Abel’s Ready – State politicians aren’t sure about Maldonado’s chances for Lieutenant Governor,” Dec. 17-23) - Posted Dec. 19
John Garamendi was a Democrat elected by the people. The governor should uphold the people’s wishes that a Democrat hold that seat, and nominate a Dem. Maldonado doesn’t really want to be lieutenant governor, he wants to be the next governor and figures that being second in command gives him the right to say he is vetted and ready to lead. –Juan
TWINKLING TOES
(“Dance Czars – Two dazzling Russian immigrants lift Monterey Peninsula Dance,” Dec. 17-23) - Posted Dec. 18
Great article. I know them – talented couple and great instructors. If you always wanted to learn dancing, start with Leo and Olga. –Susan J
Clarification: The correct name for the legislation in the U.S. Senate aimed at stopping horses from being slaughtered (“Letters – Save The Horses,” Dec. 17-23) is the Equine Protection Act.
