A Word From Mal’s

In the morning, when the veterans come in and drink their coffee, they watch The Price is Right in the morning. Our elderly folks also enjoy their schedule of CNN for a while, and Fox News in the afternoon for a bit. When my deaf son comes in, he puts it on the Oakland A’s channel during baseball season to enjoy his baseball. Occasionally, we will switch to Fox while he is watching baseball just to get our nightly dose of Red Bull for energy. Upon request, we will put on what people want to watch. Mal’s Market | via Web

Starfish Dreams

Wait. We have 160 homeless women living in their cars in Monterey (“Safe parking for homeless women in Monterey greenlighted,” posted March 22). They are only allowing 27 parking places? What? What about the remaining 133 women? Lynda Grandinetti | via Web

Why can’t there be a publicly initiated fund set up for people to help this problem, so the homeless could be accepted, until a better solution or enough funds are raised to move them along in life? Dispensing Widsom

All the state is doing is allowing dispensaries to build a monopoly by allowing them to grow and sell retail (“MMJ,” March 24-30). The licenses that the state is allowing for growers, distributors, transporters, etc. will be of no use, if the dispensaries are allowed to grow their own. Can liquor stores process their own alcohol? Licensed California medical growers will have no outlet to sell their product if the dispensaries are allowed to do this. These state medical guidelines were written by major dispensary owners to favor their own dispensaries. Mark Germino | via Web

Burger Trauma

Here’s a tip for avoiding all the traffic and to get your double double fix in about 20 minutes (“Then it was official: In-N-Out opens tomorrow,” posted March 21 and “In-N-Out opens at 9:30am,” posted March 22). I guess about 3:30 I got off at the Del Monte exit. Bit of a jam to actually get on Del Monte. I turned into the parking lot only to see four drive-through lanes. At that point, I decide it isn’t worth it and [get out of the] lanes only to find the miracle parking space.
