It’s a muse for so many, but it’s safe to say Joann Dost takes her artistic relationship with Pebble Beach Golf Links to a higher level, the elevated shots from a helicopter notwithstanding.
The Carmel Valley resident’s new The Ultimate Round: Pebble Beach Golf Links contains 75 10.5-by-10-inch pages of the iconic 18 holes, plus a spectacular panorama fold-out of the whole sequence from high above Stillwater Cove. It comes buttressed by another 42 pages of Pebble Beach landmarks, including The Lone Cypress and Spanish Bay.
It caught the attention of Pebble Beach resident and CBS lead sportscaster Jim Nantz.
“This book brings you as close to actually playing this classic seaside links course as only Joann can,” he says.
And for a lot less cash. Rounds at Pebble start at $500 without a caddy, and normally, unless you’re Kenny G or George Lopez or Justin Timberlake, requires residence at a Pebble Beach hotel, which isn’t cheap either. The most manageable starts around $350 for a view of the lawn at Spanish Bay. (Don’t expect that rate during AT&T week.)
