PB Food & Wine 2017

Editor’s note: Wondir is PBFW’s longest-serving DJ.

1. Noted French-born chef Hubert Keller jumped on the turntables and confidently spun a super-tidy house/trance set.

2. A group of partiers carried a group of new (very small) friends on a couch to the dancefloor like it was a Jewish wedding.

3. Guy Fieri (opposite) got in a dance off with local line cook Zeeek Kim… word on the street is Zeeek won.

4. A friend of mine met a woman while dancing on stage. When I finally found him the next day he had one sock and a sprained back.

5. Year one: Event co-founder David Bernahl, his then-assistant Sarah Potter and I all had an impromptu group nap on one of the balconies overlooking Spanish Bay Golf course.

6. Having kind souls bring me little dishes of great food and fancy drinks they just have to have me try.

7. Across as many as nine gigs in four days, simply seeing the diversity of the audience – something I haven’t seen in many other places.

8. Taking a break doesn’t get much better with the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

9. My first year, during the opening reception, I playfully photo-bombed this group of ladies. Now they come back every year to re-create the picture with me!

10. During gig setup, watching guest chefs huddle servers and line cooks together to coordinate the evening, like a coach before the big game, is something special to see.
