Rancho Cielo takes kids away from gang life and points them to the possibility of another life. With state funding uncertain, the nonprofit is about to embark on an ambitious fundraising campaign.

“We get these kids"—at-risk youth, many trying to escape from the grip of gang life—"and just let them be kids again. That’s the beauty of Rancho Cielo," says deputy probation officer Dave Campos.
