The Kentucky Derby happens at Churchill Downs in Louisville May 2 but you don’t have to travel that far to get in on the action. You can still grab a mint julep and place a bet at Monterey Bay Race Place at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center, with or without a fancy hat.
