“Once every few years there is an exhibition that I am so excited about, I can’t wait to share it,” wrote curator Jim Dulz about the Juxtapose: Where the Sublime Meets the Absurd exhibit now on display at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, 4th and Guadalupe, Carmel. This joint exhibit shows works by Stephanie Langley and Robert Armstrong. The artists adapt popular subject matters into social narrative that critique assumptions about both nature and culture. “The integration of past and present, the inclusion of extraordinary objects and the juxtaposition of unlike elements, are just a few of the ways the two Monterey County painters conjure the mysteriousness of everyday reality,” Dulz wrote in the press release. The exhibit can be seen Wednesday through Saturday noon to 4pm, or by appointment through July 26. A walkthrough with the artists will be held at 3pm on Saturday, June 28.
