r. mike nichols

A new exhibit at Carmel Art Association (Dolores Street between 5th and 6th avenues, Carmel; open daily 10am-5pm) shows work by six new artist members. They all are exciting additions to the roster of well-established artists continuing the long tradition of the first wave of Carmel artists who started the CAA in 1927. One of them is r. mike nichols, a master watercolorist known for his surreal and humorous visual storytelling—drawing from decades of experience as an illustrator. His work can be seen above. Other artists are mixed-media artist Heidi Alonzo, painter John Cromwell, painter Katrina Pura, sculptor Polly Osborne and painter Ethan Walsh. The exhibit opening and reception is scheduled for 4-7pm Saturday, June 14.
