“Jungle Boogie” is the title of this piece by Leslie Anne Spowart, whose work can be seen until April 25 in the Pacific Grove Art Center in Pacific Grove (among other new exhibits). Spowart presents her Creature Comforts at the Dyke Gallery. “I have always loved animals so it would make sense that these wonderful creatures provided me with a sense of comfort and assurance, especially beginning in 2019,” she wrote in an artist statement. “The world went on and there was a sense of hope and renewal for me. These pieces are reflective of that sensibility.” Spowart uses sanding, scraping, mark making and scratching in her process. She’s a multi-media artist from Monterey.
