This emerging local artist relies on a motto: “making art my 6-year-old self would love.” Her exhibit at the Sylvan Gallery in Sand City, Efemmera, reflects this perfectly. Lauren Brown’s work explores identity and the factors that shape how we see ourselves. This exhibition features sculptural artworks made from fabric and found objects. In the artist’s words, Efemmera is “a love letter to the urge to collect little trinkets, the feeling of discovering precious finds in forgotten purses and pockets, the nostalgia of love notes from long-gone bag lunches, the practice of making every scrap count, and all the tiny trash that is really treasure.” On display until June 9.
