Moses Nose was able to cross playing at Rainbow Bar & Grill off their rock and roll bucket list back in April. The rockers don’t have to leave town to hit another one of the venues on their list.

Following a tour that kicked off May 18 at Big Sur’s Henry Miller Library, and had stops in Seattle, Portland and Olympia, Washington, Moses Nose is back on their home field, and performing a sit-down show at The New Wharf Theatre, formerly Bruce Ariss Wharf Theater, on Old Fisherman’s Wharf.

It’s no farce. Tour manager Christopher Brian says the outfit is 100-percent serious about the Friday gig. The venue, which is up for sale, holds a special place in the band’s collective heart – as a kid, lead guitarist/singer Vincent Randazzo (pictured above) was in productions there.

“The theater’s been in limbo,” Brian says. “We don’t know if we’re going to have another opportunity to play there, so we wanted to make sure it happened.”

But the main objective is to showcase the band’s growth.

“Moses Nose is moving on to their sophomore period,” Brian says. “They’re growing up.”

While the retro hard rockers’ first records are infectious romps fueled by drugs, partying and sexually tongue-and-cheek tunes like “Pussy Surfers” and “Soft Core Porn,” they want to be taken more seriously as musicians.

“The guys thought a formal gala at the Wharf Theatre would be a way to do it,” Brian says.

Additionally, Moses Nose will give a video presentation on their recent Northwestern tour, and there will be an organic light show supplied by local fixture Nelson Basden and his psychedelically spectacular Lumiere Alchemical. Local feel-good favorite Valley Soul opens.

“Hopefully, this leads to more shows at the Wharf Theatre,” Brian says. “If we don’t burn the walls down.”
