Carmel Count: Mayor Sue McCloud back for a sixth term; City Council challenger Burnett wins big.

Carmel's municipal election tally:

Mayor's race:

Mayor Sue McCloud: 789

Adam Moniz: 674

City Council:

Jason Burnett: 1081

Paula Hazdovac: 646

Gerard Rose: 588

Sue McCloud begins her second decade in office, while Hazdovac enters her 17th year on the City Council. Rose was ousted after a decade of service.

"I'm disappointed," said the veteran City Councilman after the tally was in on election night.

Jason Burnett will likely shift the dynamic on Carmel's governing body where dissent was an anolmaly and  unanimous voting was the norm. Burnett says he'll start his term by investigating  allegations of sexual harassment against City Administrator Rich Guillen.

Final election results will likely be available Wednesday afternoon . Tuesday's election was the first in Monterey County to be run by private contractor Martin and Chapman of Anaheim.
