Formed while its members attended CSUMB, Para La Gente is a local based act that fuses lyrics about political and social issues over music that mixes hip hop, reggae, rock and Latin music. The band has performed at anti-war rallies and for Watsonville's Brown Berets, a Chicano activist group modeled after the Black Panthers. Their 2006 EP Hurricane America includes gripping tracks like "La Esquina," which features spacey guitar work under rapped vocals.
