Lipstick dispensed with,
eye liner gone,
her face, true now,
looked unfamiliar
when she caught herself
by accident
in the rearview mirror,
before raising her mask
in the New Leaf lot.
“Survival depends
on concealment,”
she said quietly,
unprepared eyes
blinking in sun.
