EKATERINA DE LA TORRE
The Annand Gallery at the Pacific Grove Art Center in Pacific Grove presents Channels, a sculpture exhibit by Ekaterina de la Torre. De la Torre is interested in neuroaesthetics, the scientific study of the neural consequences of contemplating a creative work of art. She is a sculptor and art historian. Her main art media include clay, bronze and mosaics – this time she is showing her clay sculptures. The series represents the hidden, unconscious world of our experiences. It also explores the interconnectivity of everything in the universe. Channels is on display until Dec. 14. [AP]
JERRY VAN MEGERT
Carmel Art Association presents an exhibition titled Van Megert: A Master Painter of the Monterey Peninsula, that will shed light on two distinct periods in his acclaimed artistic career, both early on and now later. Jerry Van Megert moved to Pebble Beach from Salem, Oregon in 1968. For over 50 years, Van Megert created hundreds of paintings depicting the beauty of his surroundings, from his oceanfront cottage nestled in the heart of Pebble Beach’s Del Monte Forest. He captured the area’s iconic beauty in every type of weather from spectacularly sunny to mysteriously misty. The exhibit runs through Dec. 4. [AP]
