• On Saturday, 8pm, Casa Sorrento hosts Los Niteliters, which in the last two decades has become one of Northern California’s fave Latino/Chicano bands, cranking out expert Tejano, salsa, cumbia, funk and R&B, top billing and supporting big acts like the Texas Tornados, Jimmy Gonzalez 7 Grupo Mazz, Volcan, Esteban Jordan and more. They’ll make the Salinas restaurant’s speakers sound so sweet. 757-2720.

• Sea Dreams, inside and upstairs at Cannery Row Antique Mall, holds a grand opening reception 3-5pm Tuesday, with refreshments, silent auction and raffle, to benefit homeless service non-profits. 402-5367.

• Speaking of speakers. File this under stuff that should go without saying: The phrase “black lives matter” does not imply that non-black lives don’t matter. And it’s foolish or disingenuous to say that it does. The slogan is a protest of systemic mistreatment and abuse of black people in particular, and people who are systematically mistreated and abused in general. If it helps, read it as “black lives matter, too.” Alicia Garza, co-founder of the hashtag and its attendant new black (and LGBT, by the way) civil rights movement will expound on this and more at CSU Monterey Bay’s University Center 7pm Tuesday. $10. skinzel@csumb.edu.

• The Colton Hall Museum and Cultural Arts Commission of the City of Monterey – in addition to needing a snappy acronym – is looking for musical artists for its 2016 Colton Hall Evening Music series.
