This former YACster – an alumna of the Monterey nonprofit Youth Arts Collective – is growing as an artist. Peggy Alonas does pottery and sculpture and her work is among over 100 regional pieces of work now on display in the Monterey Museum of Art’s (559 Pacific St., Monterey; open 11am-5pm Thursday to Sunday) 2025 Biennial exhibition. Alonas is known for her botanical and animal ornaments on functional and sculptural work. She especially enjoys white pottery forms with black ornaments. This time, however – see above – she opted for black material in this sculpture titled “Family of Crows.” To view more of her work, visit instagram.com/peggyalonas.
