El Niño is purported to be bringing us showers of sweet rain, though we’ll have to wait til after summer to get it. There’s another deluge coming the next few days, when a confluence of gallery openings and happenings creates a downpour of visual art. Here is a catchment of it:

Dr. Jeff Kohn’s comments on theosophy.
Coastlines by Jeff Andrade Hemming at Wave Street Studios

Hemming has lived in some beautiful locales, like Hawaii’s North Shore and Ko’olau Mountains, and the Caribbean. This time it’s Andrea Johnson, whose husband is gallerist Chris Winfield (curator for the Press Club), and who had a solo show of bird and flower paintings at Carmel Art Association last year. This talk is on “The relationship between photography and painting.” This series continues to impress (and grow) for its introduction and access to a lot of local creative people.
Bonus: Three more notable arts shows are still open: Weston Gallery’s 40th anniversary show, Judy Dater photography at Center for Photographic Art, Ventana Artists Showcase at Ventana Gallery.
