Each year, fifth-grade students at Forest Grove Elementary in Pacific Grove come together to create a community chalk art mural. This year, pre-kindergarten students were involved, too. A parent-artist, Kim Kasner Stone, designed the mural. This year’s theme is “Spaced Out,” featuring the solar system. The style is cartoonish with wild colors, but with enough detail to identify celestial objects. Each student decorated their own star with their name and favorite colors – 330 students total. “The purpose of choosing the solar system was simply to make something that each child knew something about,” Kasner Stone wrote. “One little guy was quoted as saying, ‘We’re making space!’ with a smile on his face.” The school is located at 1065 Congress Ave., Pacific Grove and is open to the public on weekends. See it before the first rain comes.
