- If you’re done dinking around with regular 2D puzzles of tropical birds or 3D puzzles of Big Ben, the Community Science Workshop Outreach Team, the Greenfield Community Science Workshop, and the Watsonville Environmental Science Workshop are ready to move you up to the next level. - ARIEL Theatrical’s latest kids theater piece is The Fabulous Fable Factory, a compendium of some of Aesop’s Fables like “The Ant and the Grasshopper” and “The Tortoise and the Hare.” It’s playing 7pm Fridays and 2pm and 7pm Saturdays, April 22 to May 7, at Notre Dame High School ($9-$13). - This Friday at 7pm, the Carmel Public Library’s Parent & Teacher Lecture Series screens The True Cost, a documentary about fashion, at Carmel High School’s $10 million Performing Arts Center. But before you grab your Gucci sunglasses and Fendi handbag, take note that CNN called the film a “sweeping, heartbreaking and damning survey of the clothing company” and The New York Times called it a “portrait of exploitation.” It’s free to the public. 624-2811, www.CarmelPublicLibraryFoundation.org.
- In December, I wrote about a documentary called In An Ideal World that screened at CSUMB. Shot in Soledad Prison over 7 years, it followed a former hit man, ex-gangbanger and then-warden as an anti-segregation order threatened to scramble the racial power dynamics all three operated under. Former inmates and prison officials paneled a discussion about race, power, justice and incarceration after the film. It’s back. This time it’s getting a national broadcast premiere 8pm Tuesday on the WORLD Channel series America Reframed, a collaboration between WGBH and the producers of POV.
