ARTIFACTS: Teddy bears of healing, a concert in a home, saxophone madness.

• The Red Pear, an art gallery in Carmel Valley Village, shows an exhibition of new paintings by Keith Lingberg, who has been painting in the area since 1960. The reception is hosted by James Mont Ranch and Georis (just Georis, apparently) 6-8pm Friday. 659-1200, www.TheRedPear.com.

• How much a mere object can mean to someone depends on the someone in question. Teddy Bears with Heart, founded in 2008, has collected and distributed 30,000 teddy bears for children in crisis, the forgotten elderly and terminally ill. They’re holding a fundraising bingo 5pm Saturday at the Moose Lodge in Monterey. They’re also in need of donated storage space. Call 915-1112 for more.

• The Venue in Seaside is a home that hosts intimate performances by singer-songwriters (accompanied by Italian potluck food) for the public to attend. This Saturday, at 7pm, that singer-songwriter is Andy Davis, who, on “Let the Woman Alone” has a good sense of small combo dynamics and a dramatic, breathy singing style, but on his website his merch presentation is a little more out front than actual music or information. $15-$20. • Jazz isn’t confined to the Monterey County Fairgrounds this weekend. Jazz saxophonist Ben Herod has two fingers in a splint, having broken one of them. But that doesn’t stop him from his weekly gigs at Cibo’s or this special show at Pierce Ranch Vineyards 8pm Saturday featuring his group The Ben Herod Trio. The next day, 4-6pm, the Stu Reynolds Saxtet with master sax player George Young do that jazz thing 4-6pm. $5 for each show. 372-8900.

• It’s a pricey event with a good cause. Galante Vineyard’s Vino for Veterans is $500 per person. This mix of skeet shooting, cigars, gourmet lunch, wine and special guests promises to continue until “we run out of time, ammo, wine (or all of the above).” Something about this reminds me of Dick Cheney and a hunting mishap. • Cool local artist-about-town Andrew Jackson has launched another of his well-received 30 paintings in 30 days streaks, 8x10 pieces for $100 each. Go to his Facebook to pounce on the work. It goes fast.

• Here’s some good news for local artists. There’s a new art supply store in downtown Pacific Grove called Imagine, billed as a “community project for local artists,” and located at 309 Forest Ave. 372-1388.
