• At the Monterey County Fair, my family and I posed with life-size cut-outs of Michelle and President Barack Obama. It was all smiles. It will be smiles of another timbre, I think, at the El Grito Mexican Independence Day celebration in East Alisal, noon-6pm Saturday, where the law offices of Amos, Dittrich & Ushana will have a booth with a life-size cutout of Donald Trump. • Colleen Raney is based out of Portland, Oregon, comes from a family steeped in step-dancing, and is part of an Irish community in the Pacific Northwest. Between her musical upbringing, cultural milieu and playing with musicians like Johnny B.
