- Jesse Banda started the Salinas Valley Comic Con in 2017, then left and launched the Central Coast Pop Expo in 2017, also a broad tent for comics, movies, novels, video games and cosplay. - 2pm, Saturday, Oct. 20, the Monterey Peace and Justice Center is showing Kimberly Reed’s harrowing new documentary examining “one of the greatest present threats to American democracy.” Take a moment, try to guess what it’s about… I’ll wait… You were thinking Trump, weren’t you?
