Amy Storey's sacred animal paintings, your parents' EDM, biking Laguna Seca.

• Amy Storey grew up near Salinas and studied graphic design at Stanford. She is the latest artist to get an art show at Marjorie Evans Gallery at the Sunset Center. It’s called A Whimsical Menagerie, abstract figurative paintings that reveal her fascination with animals, and the links between native cultures and their sacred animals. • The video for Silhouette Era’s “Exhale” captures the decor, energy and ennui of young people meeting and having drinks at a live music bar. It’s such an earnest and realistic slice of life – and kind of meta too – without trying hard. And the music, jangly and rhythmic guitar rock with everyday anthemic lyrics, is pop-happy stuff too. • But what about older folks? Where can they go? Not to fret. Diana Roberts has your back. “I’m an old raver from the ‘80s,” she tells us, “and as I hit 59 this year I still wanted to go out dancing to house music – EDM.” But she didn’t want to go out too late, or be dancing with with young ’uns from a Zac Efron movie. So she created Minus20, house music dance parties spun by DJ Ivona and DJ Adonis Fonteno for people over 35 years old, that start early. She’s kicking off the concept in San Francisco and at Monterey’s Blue Fin this Saturday, fro $20. www.Minus20club.com.

• It’s not very arty (unless you count the colorful spandex logo jerseys), but it’s a very cool event. On Wednesday, the Mazda Raceway’s Twilight Cycling Ride closes the 11-turn, 2.238-mile Laguna Seca track to motorized vehicles for a few hours a month so that bicyclists can have a go. This monthly event has been going on for 6 years. One of the special events is a coasting race from the top of the Corkscrew to as far down as your bike will cruise you, with no pedaling allowed. On Sept. 23, the Twilight Cycling ride is sponsored by the Naval Postgraduate School. It’s $10 per rider, helmets are required (rentals available). 242-8201, www.MazdaRaceway.com.

• Monterey Peninsula College Art Gallery, a reliable hub of contemporary art in the county, puts on six 5-week-long exhibits of all media each academic year. Where do they get them from? You. Maybe.
