Harrison Memorial Library joins hundreds of libraries in almost all 50 states to shine light on independent, local authors and publishers during National Indie Author Day.
First is a panel comprised of local authors Robin Gregory (The Improbable Wonders of Moojie Littleman), Phyllis Entis (The Green Pearl Caper), mystery writer Kathryn Gualtieri, Lynn Momboisse (Historic Homes and Inns of Carmel-by-the-Sea), Pilgrim’s Way owner Paul Fridlund and Patricia Hamilton of Park Place Publications in Pacific Grove.
They’ll dispense wisdom and advice to aspiring authors on inspiration, the writing process, marketing and publishing.
Gregory, whose award-winning book has got the attention of film producer and writer John Crye (Whale Rider, Memento), suggests authors work on the outline before delving into the writing, and giving manuscripts time to “ripen.”
About indie publishing, she writes: “The good news: anybody can publish a book. The bad news: anybody can publish a book.”
The second half of the program is a live panel webcast to participating libraries, stocked with characters like independent publishing professional Robin Cutler and former Amazon Director of Author and Publisher Relations, Jon Fine.
It’s a boot camp of indie publishing. Without the buzz cuts and yelling.
