It’s because Tommy’s does seemingly simple and evidently quick and delicious dishes like spicy green beans, Tommy’s prawns, vegetable deluxe, hot spicy Szechuan and ample soups, that wait times for tables (reservations help but are not mandatory) can seem an interminable delay of gratification. So the take-out here is extra appreciated. For newcomers who may circle blocks of downtown looking for it—you’ll be lucky to spot it from the street in a moving car—it’s tucked behind the Wells Fargo bank, across Mission Street from the Carmel Plaza.
