Child Labor in Local Restaurants

At a posh benefit in Spanish Bay, recently retired Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta essentially credited his professional and patriotic accomplishments to training he completed in his parents’ Monterey restaurant. ( “I washed dishes,” he says. “My parents believed child labor is required.”
) He also pointed out that the successful operation won him a $10,000 bottle of wine from the Sardine Factory’s Ted Balestreri.
