Before we could get into a saucy convo about Speyside vs. Islay single malts, our call to the Salinas BevMo! got cut short by a media-leery manager who referred us to a press office, which we felt a little too tipsy to call. But we squeezed out of the manager an estimate that her store is a veritable warehouse for a couple thousand different kinds of beer, wine and spirits. Nothing to scoff at, though we were hoping the Salinas store would stack up against the BevMo! website, which indicates the alcohol emporium sells nearly 2,000 kinds of liquor alone. Not quite. But hell, we’re a cheap date and won’t remember much after the first couple shots anyway. And we are sure she could order for us any bottle BevMo! sells that she doesn’t keep in stock, which, taken with all the wine, beer, glasses, mixers and munchies gourmet and not, is enough to kill an elephant.
