Restaurant 1833
500 Hartnell St., Monterey
643-1833
Here the mood, munchies and alchemic elixirs are so top-of-the-food-chain even Hattie can’t stop hanging out here, more than 150-or-so years after she kicked the pewter bucket. (The other way to see ghosts, BTW: a Russian-style absinthe from the bar cart.) But there’s more than Exec Chef Levi Mezick’s mandatory bacon-cheddar biscuits on the bar menu and Stormy Phosphate from the mind of barmaster Mike Lay in your jar or La Marea Grenache from Ted Glennon’s cellar in your glass, including DJs on weekends, fire pits on the patio and old-school luxury lounging in the library.
