Bulldog British Pub

611 Lighthouse Ave., Monterey

658-0686

Like any great neighborhood bar, the recently renovated Bulldog Pub has plenty of regulars. There are the local construction workers who stop by for a pint after work sitting next to the theater enthusiasts from the upstairs Paper Wing who hoist a beer after another successful play. A group of teachers unwind on Friday nights, while a crew of golfers stop in on Sundays to discuss their game. On Wednesday nights, a handful of runners allow themselves a pint or two. Then there are bullseye enthusiasts who are always tossing darts at Bulldog’s board left of the bar. Tonight, a frequent patron is greeted with a cold beer by bartender Susie Ellis. “I love this place,” the man says smiling. “It’s a place where you come and meet friends.” He is one of many who feel exactly the same way.
