Father Peter Crivello gets things done. As pastor of San Carlos Cathedral in Monterey, he presides over both the spiritual well-being of his congregation and the physical well-being of the historic church. The cathedral is the first stone-cut building in California and the state’s oldest continuously operating house of worship. Under Crivello’s leadership, the conservation and restoration of the church was completed in 2009. The project helped strengthen a strong community. Drawing on that spirit, the church opened a food pantry in 2012—and that bringing-together of people is what being a spiritual leader is all about.
