Young Frankenstein
Pacific Repertory Theatre
821 Monte Verde St., Carmel
(831) 622-0100, pacrep.org
As entertaining as the Broadway 2007 Mel Brooks original, Young Frankenstein turned the Founder’s Theatre into a creepy castle of Victor Frankenstein, the protagonist of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel. Directed by PacRep’s founder and director, Stephen Moorer, the play featured Travis Poelle as promising scientist and Victor’s grandson, Frederick Frankenstein, Christiana Meeks as his annoying fiance, Elizabeth, Ethan McDaniel as charismatic Igor, Sarah Gaudoin as Inga and Donna Federico as Frau Blucher. PacRep is the oldest and the biggest of local theaters, with access to four stages – two in the renovated Golden Bought Playhouse, and two at the Forest Theatre. It produces Broadway musicals, annual Shakespeare productions, dramatic and community theater, as well as children’s theater programs and productions – but no clown acts.
