Imagine Candyland, but instead of gumdrops and lollipops on the board, there are carrots, strawberries and cabbages for everyone, regardless of income. It’s not a game but serious business for Everyone’s Harvest, the nonprofit host of farmers markets in Marina, Seaside, Salinas and Pacific Grove. Through community food programs, Everyone’s Harvest makes it easier to afford fresh produce – Market Match discounts for EBT shoppers, free boxes through Farms Together, and FreshRX to fill a doctor’s orders. “We want people to be able to afford the food they’d like to eat, especially healthy food,” Executive Director Hester Parker says. It’s a mission Weekly readers have again endorsed.
