Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association is the opposite of those powerful Dust Bowl‑era groups like Associated Farmers. MCVGA works for the betterment of all involved in one of the county’s most important agricultural sectors. In fact, the annual economic impact of the humble winegrape in Monterey County is around $1.5 billion. There are some 350 vineyards, dozens of tasting rooms pouring around 60 different wine varietals. With this comes demand for both full‑time and seasonal workers, the need for marketing to gain ground on those snooty wine regions to the north and more. MCVGA takes on a lot, but they are good at what they do.
