Outdoor Dining-In Parklets

Over the past decade, outdoor dining parklets have become increasingly common gems in progressive cities like San Francisco, but in regions more resistant to change – like Monterey County – it took a global pandemic in order for them to have their day in the sun. But given their popularity, hopefully many of them will stick around, because in a temperate climate like the Central Coast, eating outside feels natural, more festive. And like anywhere parklets exist, they liven up the atmosphere on the street and make locals – whether they’re dining at the restaurant or not – feel more like they’re living in a vibrant community. And after a year-plus where many of us were cooped up at home every day, every bit of that is a good thing.
